Fried won tons are one of the best Chinese food appetizers that is out there.  I love trying different Chinese restaurants and especially seeing all the creative ways they fold their fried won tons!

Here are five easy ways to fold a won ton for the next time you fry up a batch.  These are just my names for them.

There is probably a more official name for each of these folds, but I like mine better.

  • Triangle
  • Bundle
  • Package
  • Crown
  • Pyramid

For this instructable, I am using my bacon won ton recipe.

Triangle (Difficulty - Easy)

The triangle fold is extremely simple.

Put about a tablespoon of filling on your won ton wrapper, fold it in half, and press the edges.

When you need to make a lot of won tons fast, this is the way to do it.

Bundle (Difficulty - Easy)

The bundle is also an easy and quick fold.  Like the triangle, it is great for making large amounts of won tons.

Place a tablespoon of filling in the middle of your won ton wrapper, and gather all the edges.  Twist slightly to seal.

Package (Difficulty - Medium)

The package is also pretty easy, but more time consuming than the triangle or bundle.

Place 1 tablespoon of filling on your won ton wrapper.  Fold each corner in over the filling.

Crown (Difficulty - Medium)

To make the crown, first start of with a triangle won ton.

Fold each of the angles on the long side in over each other and press them together (careful not to press them to the main part)

Very carefully, pull the newly sealed part slightly away from the main part of the won ton and set the won ton upright.

Pyramid (Difficulty - Hard)

The pyramid can be slightly difficult as first, but gets easier with practice.

Place a tablespoon of filling on your won ton wrapper.  Bring the opposite corners up towards each other and pinch them together.

Bring the remaining two corners up, pinching the sides together where they meet to seal the won ton into a pyramid shape.

Fry Them Up!

Use the directions on your won ton wrappers to fry them up to a perfect golden brown.

If you are frying them in a pan on the stove, be sure to flip them halfway through so they fry evenly.

Enjoy!
