Fixing a Controller Thumbpad With Sugru

Hello! I came home the other day to find that my kids had picked the thumbpad off of one of my controllers. Children. *sigh*. It was my backup controller as the other had damage from wear and tear over several years (pictured above). So i thought what to do? I looked up new controllers and it seemed a bit pricey to replace something with so small a defect. So I puzzled over for a bit when I realized sugru was my solution.

Preparing the Controller.

To get the the controller ready i removed what was left of the thumb pad so the final product wouldn't be too bulky.

Didn't need much to get it done.

Applying the Sugru.

After opening the sugru I rolled it into a ball and split it into 2 pieces. Then rolled one into a ball and smushed it down flat.
Next I placed the sugru centered on the joystick and rolled the excess over and tucked it under with the knife so it won't interfere with the joysticks range of motion.
Finished by smoothing it out and letting it cure.
I hope you enjoyed the instructable.
