Hello

I'm study Industrial product desing at Howest Kortrijk and we got a assignment to make a product flatpack and a choice to make a portable kitchen device.

This is my flatpack kitchen device and show you step by step how to make it...

What Do You Need for This?

For this project you need some materials:

First of all a aluminium plate (1200*1200)

A marking pen to draw your lines on your plate

A drill + drillset

A jig saw + aluminium blade

A plate shears

A rivet plier

2 or 3 clamps

Screwdrivers

Bolts

Rivets

A machine park and also an kitchen device.

Draw and Cut Out the Plates

IMAG0973[1].jpg

First take your marking pen and draw your lines on the plate (you can find it on the file)

for the square you can take the plate shears

and for the rest you can take the jig saw for more accuracy

(First drill a hole and than cut out the circle)

For the bottom plate you can take the top plate and draw the lines around this plate (without the circle).

Fold the Edges

IMAG0994.jpg

After cutting the plates we need to fold the edges on 90 degrees for a stronger structure.

Fold a edge of 1 cm on 90 degrees long all sides.

The best way is using a bending machine for a accurate result but manual is also an option, place your plate between the vise and tuck it to with a block of wood that as wide as your plate.

Mounting Bracket

IMAG0985[1].jpg

IMAG0997[1].jpg

The mounting bracket is there to push the kitchen device against the top plate...

Take a pièce of aluminium with a max. thickness of 4 mm and cut it down with a length of 40 * 225,

then turn a pièce of 30 mm on 137 degrees on both side.

For the connection between the device and bracket drill a hole in the middle of the pièce with diameter 6 and connect them with a bolt.

Make the Hinge

IMAG1002.jpg
IMAG1004.jpg
IMAG1013.jpg
IMAG1147[1].jpg

Take a L-profile and cut it down with a length of 12cm,

then you put the L-profile in the corner of the top and bottom plate and drill (drill of 4) a hole into them.

To be able to move your hinges use a lock nut and bolt.

(Tighten your nut not as hard, get L-profile even can rotate)

Add Boundary

IMAG1108[1].jpg

Take a flat profile (with 1.5) and cut it of on a length 12 cm then drill a hole at 5 *5 mm (drill of 4) and on the other side cut out a piece (7*4) at 5* 5mm

Drill a hole on the top and bottom plate on 3 cm (same drill as in the flat profile)

Connect the profile on the top plate with a bolt and lock nut and normale nut (4)

(Leave enough space between two nuts juste enougt for your profile)

On the bottom plate you connect them with a rivet (same way as the hinge profile)

Make a Coverplate Heated Elements

Draw the lines that you can find in the file over on your aluminium plate and cut them out with the jigsaw.

You need also make a hole for the plug (the dimensions can you find on the file),

cut it out with the jigsaw (first drill a hole for your beginning to saw).

after you cut out the hole for your plug test it and you can put a point were the 2 holes must come for connection.

Create Stability

IMAG1050.jpg
IMAG1049.jpg

Drill a hole (drill of 4) 3 cm from the edge on all the corners.

Connect them tight with bolt and nut and tighten with a screwdriver.

Handle

As last take a random handle and make them with wood screws

You need also drill holes for your screws depending on the distance and screwsize
