Flax Flowers

These flax flowers are so easy to make and so cool! Great to add to a flower bunch or even just on their own!
Also very fun to make, with a well deserved outcome!

Pieces of Flax/Harakeke

First of all you want to cut some flax at the base of the stem, making sure the tops

aren't frayed or split, also no holes.
The bigger the piece the bigger the flower ( See above picture on the top)

Starting the Weave

First you want to make a small cut at the top on the centre line then slowly rip down the middle to any point you want. Then you want to make another small cut on one of the halves and slowly pull down the the same point as the middle line, repeat with the other side.

Weaving the Flower

To start the weaving you need to fold the first strand over so that it's pointing towards the right side. Then repeat with the following strands, weaving them, over under over under etc...... Next fold the end strand over into the shape of a triangle and repeat the folding and weaving method keep repeating the main method until you almost repeat ALMOST to the end where you only weave only two strands over making it look like an L shape (see last picture) Enough to tie a knot in it twice in the next step.

Tying the Knot

Make sure you have left enough room for two knots to be tied. So tie two knots and you've finished!

Finished!

Now you can place it in a special place! ENJOY!
