How to Securely Wipe a Hard Drive Using Linux (Flowchart)

Flowchart on how to securely wipe a hard drive using ShredOS Linux

1. Download and install ShredOS Linux: https://github.com/PartialVolume/shredos.x86_64/blob/master/README.md
2. Computer with hard drive that needs to be wiped

1. Download and burn ShredOS Linux to a flash drive
2. Link: https://github.com/PartialVolume/shredos.x86_64/blob/master/README.md
3. Power on computer > hit F12 to get to setup
4. Change mode to "Legacy Boot"
5. Save and exit setup > restart system
6. Plug flash drive in with ShredOS burned to it
7. Hit F12 > select boot from USB drive
8. Wait for ShredOS to boot into RAM
9. Select drive using space bar
10. Hit "M" to select the method
11. Select PRNG Stream > Backspace
12. Hit "R" for number of rounds
13. Enter "1"
14. Hit "S" to Start the drive wipe
15. Hit "Shift + S" to start the wipe
16. A 500 GB drive will take about 3 hours/1 TB is about 6 hours
