Flower Press
I made this flower press using a laser cutter; however, it could also be created using a drill and a woodburning tool. If you have a laser cutter you can use the embedded files that I used to make mine. Feel free to edit the design to personalize it!
Supplies
The materials required to make this flower press are:
2 pieces of wood
2 pieces of corrugated cardboard
2 pieces of cardstock paper
4 screws and nuts (mine were half inch and a little small, but I fixed the dimensions in the svg file)
Design Your Press
This is where you use either a laser cutter, a woodburning tool, or really anything you want to engrave or even just paint your wood to personalize your flower press.
To create the svg file, I used inkscape. It was pretty simple, just create a rectangle with the dimensions you want for the press, four holes in the corners for the screws and then drawing in your design using the freehand lines tool.
Create Holes
Using either a drill or a laser cutter, cut out four holes in the corners of your press where the screws and nuts will go. (The ones in my pictures are a little big, so make sure you make the holes big enough for your screws but small enough that the screws don't fall through the holes.)
Assembly
Layer the bottom piece of wood, a piece of cardboard, and a piece of cardstock. Place the flower that you are pressing onto the cardstock. Layer the other piece of cardstock, cardboard, and then the top piece of wood. Put the screws in their holes and tighten the press using the nuts. Let it sit for a week, tightening occasionally and, if they get too moist, replacing the pieces of cardstock.
Enjoy
Enjoy your pressed flowers and new flower press :)
