Flying Car
In this instructable, I will take you to the world of hybrid flying machine!
Guess what? Yes, It's a flying car! This model can be used to race around on track as well as zoom in the skies.
Go On! Gather the Materials
Here's the list of things required the make this model.
Building materials
Coroplast
carbon fibre rods
colour tapes
Tools
Pair of scissors, pliers
superglue
Hot-glue
Paper cutter
Electronics
2400KV brushless motor
12amp ESC
2.4Ghz Tx, Rx
500mah 3cell lipo battery
2x5g servo's
Building the Airframe
Cut out a base which measure 15x14 inches to make the airframe. Cut this out of the coroplast using a sharp paper cutter. Using the same method draw and cut out the vertical stabilizer. Detailing can be done to include a pilot and a flight deck.
Now using colour tapes, add details to the airframe. After that, secure the vertical stabilizer onto the base using super glue and lock them.
The airframe is now almost ready!
Making the Wheels
Make wheels using High density foam. Cut circular discs of size 4inches in diameter and add a plastic tube to every wheel.
Cut axles out of metal rods and insert them into coroplast and secure them using superglue.
Now put the wheels into them and lock at the ends.Make sure the wheels have sufficient room to rotate freely.
Adding Electronics
Motor mount
Use a motor mount supplied with the brushless motor or make one out of hard foam. Fix the motor mount to the airframe using hotglue. Make sure that it's secured perfectly to avoid vibrations.
Now connect the motor to the ESC's leads and secure the ESC with hotglue on the airframe.
Servos
Servos are electronic devices which control the movemment of airframe surfaces with the input of the receiver.
Two servos are required in this model to control rudder and elevator. Cult slots in the airframe and secure the servos with hotglue. Next attach the control horns to the surfaces and install pushrods. Servo mechanism is now ready.
Battery
Mount the battery using velcro onto the airframe. Before doing that one must check the Center of gravity of the model which is around 25-30% from the leading edge of the base.
Soar High!
The model is now complete! Bind your transmitter with receiver and get ready to soar high.
