Portable Cardboard Case-Storage-Cabinet-Table
I really think that it's a great idea to reuse cardboard packaging as a material for creating something interesting. I continued to invent cardboard furniture, which can be transformed and used at home and in camping trip. In this instructable I want to show you how to make a portable folding storage cabinet from cardboard that can also be used as case or a table. Cardboard Storage formed of cardboard, is provided with three compartments, which can be inserted in each other, decreasing to the size of the case. Cardboard Storage can also be used as a small table. This Foldable Portable Cardboard Case-Storage Cabinet-Table is decorated with a cat also made of cardboard (cardboard craft).
P.S. I'm tired of fighting with sites that steal my instructables regardless of the license (which is indicated in the upper left corner). Sorry but I decided to add attribution to my photos. I know it looks a little annoying, but it annoys me even more to see my works under someone else's authorship or for sale.
Supplies
five-layers corrugated cardboard (I used cardboard from packing boxes),
three-layer corrugation cardboard,
craft paper,
PVA glue (white glue),
instant glue,
pencil, pen,
ruler (or tape measure),
triangle,
short sharp knife for cutting cardboard,
solid massive iron board,
cutting mat,
scissors,
awl,
rope,
work gloves,
carbon paper,
brush,
eraser.
Making the First Compartment
If you use cardboard boxes, then remove all fastening materials (cords, adhesive tape, rivets, etc.).
If you don’t have enough large cardboard, you can glue several smaller pieces together.
Flatten the cardboard and cut out first compartment using a ruler, triangle and pencil (see photo). Press the iron board where you want to cut the cardboard, and draw a knife along its edge. Keep the knife straight and make sure that the cardboard does not move. Do not try to cut thick cardboard at a time. Better to draw a knife several times, gradually cutting all layers of cardboard. Do not remove the iron board until the cut cardboard has come apart. Sharpen the knife if it is necessary.
If there are inscriptions or drawings, then hide them by gluing craft paper: cut the paper, apply a thin layer of glue to the paper and / or the side of the cardboard; glue the paper; make sure that wrinkles do not form on paper; let it dry well. The drying process can be accelerated with an iron: iron the glued paper.
Since I had not large cardboard boxes, I used additional pieces of cardboard (three-layer corrugation cardboard) to fix compartments. Cut cardboard (see principal dimensions on photo).
Fold cardboard: press with a corner of an iron board and gently bend the cardboard around the board, do not damage the top layer of cardboard.
Glue in necessary places (see photo). Add pieces of cardboard to make corners and bottom stronger. Glue craft paper on top. Let it dry well.
As a result, you should get a strong box 42 cm high, 32 cm length, 12 cm width, with the top.
Making the Second Compartment
Do the same as in the previous step, but as a result, you should get a box 43 cm high, 33 cm length, 13 cm width, with the top, but without one big side. The first compartment should fit in the second compartment.
Making the Third Compartment
Do like the second compartment, but as a result, you should get a box 44 cm high, 34 cm length, 14 cm width, with the top, but without one big side. The second compartment should fit in the third compartment.
Assembling the Foldable Portable Cardboard Case-Storage Cabinet-Table
Insert the first compartment into the second, then into the third. The compartments can be moved apart and shifted. Now you need to fix them so that they do not extend fully and do not fall out.
Make holes with an awl, insert the pieces of rope and tie (see photo). Make it for each compartment up and down.
Making the Cat for Decoration
I decided to make a cat for decoration, but you can make any other figure. Just find suitable for you pattern (paper-craft). (The wall cat is a pepakura creation from Shuripusta and can be downloaded from his patreon website https://www.patreon.com/posts/cats-for-8674462).
Print the sheets with the pattern.
Transfer parts of pattern to cardboard (using carbon paper). Write the numbers on the cardboard later using pencil.
Cut out all parts.
Fold.
Glue the parts in stages together according to numbers. Immediately before gluing, wipe the number.
Let it dry well.
Decoration, Adding Details
Glue the cardboard cat on the front wall (first compartment) of the Foldable Portable Cardboard Case-Storage Cabinet-Table.
Add ties (photo).
