Foldable Skateboard Rack

There are many skateboard racks available to buy in the store, but this rack is different. This rack has rails on it in which you can place as many brackets as you want depending on the amount of skateboards you want to put. The special thing about this rack is that you can fold it and it can fit inside of your car trunk. This rack is also made with heavy duty materials to ensure that it will last.

When using tools make sure you have adult supervision.

Materials Needed:

• (1) 24x48 ply wood
• (2) 2x4 20 inches in length
• (2) 2x4 20.5 inches in length
• (8) 10 inch single track shelf brackets
• (4) 24 inch single track upright
• (2) 3 inch square corner door hinges
• 3 inch barrel bolt
• 6 inch threaded bolt
• Pencil
• Hammer
• Drill
• Meter Stick
• Tape Measure
• Saw
• 2 1/2 inch nails
• 1 inch screws
• Paint (optional)

You don't have to paint the tracks and brackets. I just wanted the rack to be blue, but if you prefer not to then just skip this step.

In order to create this base you will need to use your measuring tape to measure the two bottom corners of the ply wood and cut out a 3.5 in x 1.5 in square using the corners. Then get the two 20.5 in 2x4 pieces then hammer one on each side of the the bottom of the ply wood giving support in the middle. Use the other two 2x4 pieces and hammer them on the sides of the middle part of the base as shown in the pictures above. When you have hammered all of these pieces to the bottom of the ply wood there is now a strong base to hold the board up.

Measure 5 1/2 inches away from the side of the ply wood then mark a straight vertical line from the bottom all the way to the top of the board and do this on both sides. Then align your tracks on the lines then drill 1 inch screws into the circular holes on the tracks. Each side will have two tracks, one on top of the other, and with your saw cut off the extra pieces of track that are not on the board.

For this next step you will need to unscrew the top tracks and put them on the side for a bit. Get your meter stick then draw a straight horizontal line right above the bottom rails. Once you have the line drawn get your saw then cut off the top piece of ply wood. Grab the 2 door hinges then place them on the bottom of the ply wood that you cut off. Place them 4 inches away from the side then drill them on. When you have that done then just drill the other half of the hinges onto the bottom ply wood piece. Make sure that when you do that align the two boards perfectly in order for it to be straight then drill the hinges on.

You're almost done building your very own skateboard rack. Just complete this final step. You can paint the rack, but remember that painting it is your choice. Alright so lets get into the final step. For this step you will need the 3 inch barrel bolt, measuring tape, and the 6 inch threaded bolt. First take out the bolt that comes with the barrel bolt. Then you would need to measure an inch away from the left side on the middle of the board. Drill in the top part of the barrel right above the middle of the board. When that is drilled in, measure the bottom of the barrel to be 2 1/2 inches apart from the top piece. Once you have it placed drill the piece in then insert the 6 inch threaded bolt through the barrel in order to keep the top part of the board from falling over.

The rack is able to hold all of your skateboards and won't fall because of the strong base. Instead of throwing my skateboards on the floor or anywhere in my room, I am now able to put them away preventing my floor from getting dirty. It also keeps the floor in my mom's car trunk from getting dirty.
