Materials
you will need in this order (though it helps to gather it all before you start)
shoebox w/o top
scissors
paints and/or bright pastels (im not sure about the pastels)
tape
a piece of cardboard that is larger than area of shoebox(e.g. if are of bottom of shoe box is 8x10, make cardboard 10x 12)

What to Do With the Box
use the paints to paint eyes in the bottom of the box. make sure they are big
For the Top
take the cardboard and cut eyeholes in it. make the eyeholes slighly smaller than the eyes in the box. then draw and paint a portrait of anything on the cardboard with holes for eyes. you can even make a background
Finishing Touches
Almost done. Tape the cardboard on top of the shoebox. make sure the eyes are correct. since the eyes are behind the actual portrait, it will appear as if the eyes are following you! if you had bright colors, you can hang it outside, or you could put an LED in it so the eyes shine (that might be a fire hazard, so check for non buring material to put inside if you want an LED). also, you can stick in a walkie talkie to scare people more.
