Mix Chick'n
- Add 2 cups of vital wheat gluten, 1/2 cup nutritional yeast, 2 Tablespoons of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, 1 Tablespoon poultry seasoning and mix well
- Add 1 1/2 cups of broth and 2 Tablespoons tamari (soy sauce works too) whisk until dough starts to form
- Switch the whisk with a spatula until all ingredients are incorporated
Knead
- Knead the chick'n dough for 6 minutes
Shape Chick'n
- Add 4 cups of no chicken chicken broth and 2 cups of water into large pot, bring to a boil
- Take the dough and pull off tablespoon sized chunks of the chick'n (this is a true trust the process moment)
- Add each chunk into the boiling pot, add more water if you need to in order to have the chunks covered
- Cover and let boil for 30 minutes
Batter Chick'n
- Put your aquafaba and water into blender and blend until foamy
- Add 2 cups flour, 1 Tablespoon of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper to a bowl and mix well
Batter Chick'n
- Dip each chick'n chunk into the flour mixture
- Then into the aquafaba mix
- And back into the flour
- Repeat until all chick'n is coated
Fry!
- Add about one inch of frying oil into pan, I used canola oil
- Heat the oil until hot, I check by flicking a little flour into the oil and if it simmers I know it's ready
- Add each chick'n chunk into the hot oil, fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until your desired crispness.
Enjoy!
Your vegan fried chick'n is done! I always make a side homemade fries since I already have all the supplies out and oil hot. Serve with your favorite sauce or just plain. This recipe makes about 28 chick'n pieces. You can freeze your leftovers in a ziploc bag or store in a container in the fridge for 4 days.
