Friends: a Circuit Study for Kids
Project title: Friends
Concept/ Concept drawing: Hug doll for children. Children can make a story and play with the dolls. They can naturally understand how a basic circuit works by playing the dolls.
Intended Audience: My intended audiences are children who are beginners to studying basic circuit. Age 5~10.
Inspiration: I inspired by Lego block and Hug doll. I like Lego blocks because users can build anything from tiny blocks but blocks have to be put together to build something. Children can learn a message of working together. Although I like Lego blocks, I don’t like the texture because it’s too hard and sometimes cold so I use fabrics and yarns to show soft and warm feeling.

Building a Pressure Sensor Doll
- Make cotton (or sponge ) shape similar to a doll shape
- Wrap the cotton with bare wire.
- Gather each side of the end of the bare wire and put copper tape.make sure this copper tape part come outside of the doll. This part will be the arm of the doll.
- Cover everything with the Pressure-Sensitive Conductive Sheet. (make a whole for the arm part)
- Wrap the pressure sheet with 3 lines of the copper tape and connect the lines with one copper tape.
- Put a thin fabric (with 5 wholes) between the pressure sheet and the copper tape. make sure to make another arm and connect to this part.
- Draw a doll pattern on the fabric ( any pattern for your doll )
- Cut the pattern out.
- Put everything(what you made step1~6) inside the patterned fabric and sew it together.

- make eyes by using a glue gun and two buttons.
- embroider mouth with thread.
Building a LED Doll
1. Make two parallel holes on the clear round case
2. Put LED inside the round case and put LED +,- arms come outside of the case through the holes.
3. Crochet a square pattern based on the crochet pattern.
4. Cover the round case with the square crochet and sew end to close the cover
5. Put copper tape at each end of LED arms.
6. Make eyes and mouth by using buttons and embroidery.
Building a 3V Battery Doll
1. Crochet a pattern that looks like the first picture
2. fold it in half
3. Put 3V battery and the battery holder inside the crochet pattern and make one stitch for each side
4. Put copper tape arms for +,- ends
5. Make eyes and a mouth
Building a 9V Battery Doll
1. Crochet a pattern that looks like the first picture
2. fold it in half
3. Put 9V battery inside the crochet pattern and make one stitch for each side
4. Put copper tape arms for +,- ends
5. Make eyes and a mouth
