G4 IMac With Hidden MagSafe Charger
I turned my old iMac into an external monitor with hidden MagSafe charger for my phone
Supplies
- G4 iMac
- 22" light weight monitor
- 3D printer
- HDMI cable, 2 pin powerr cable
- Arduino nano, H-bridge motor controller, wires
- Lego parts
I completely disassembled the iMAC.
Next, i 3d printed this VESA adapter for the iMac's arm.
I installed the adapter and attached the new 22" light weight monitor
Removed the original cables from the arm, and replaced them with a HDMI and a power cable.
Lated added white sticker to the lower bezel.
With this step, the monitor section was finished.
I designed and 3d printed a slider mechanism that will house the MagSafe charger. This will replace the old CD drive.
Added a lego motr and some lego gears to reduce the motor's rotational speed.
I assembled the electonic (arduino nano, h-bridge morot controller, button, power supply), then i uploaded the code to the arduino.
Project was finished
