Gib Direction Tutorial

New Project (1).png

This project is for my DDA class. We used a site called Photopea. This will be a tutorial about how to create a TV Show-like poster that would be for a spinoff show about Gibby joining One Direction in One Direction's peak, 2012.

Supplies

Photopea

B3 canvas

Gradient tool

"Open & Place..." feature

Magic Cut tool

Rotate

Opacity

New Adjustment Layer...

Curves

Sharpen Filter

Text

Stroke

Outer Glow

Set Up Background

When you open Photopea, you're going to click on "New Project", then you're going to go to the "Print" tab and click on B3(353 x 500 mm). Where it says "Background", change white to background.

Then, change the background colors to a light blue and a baby blue.

You're then going to go to the gradient tool, change it from linear to radial and the blend mode to lighten. You're then going to place your radial gradient towards the upper center of the canvas.

Get Pictures

step 2 screenshot.png

Next, you're going to get your pictures. You don't have to crop them or edit them quite yet, but set them up where you'd want them to go, like a blueprint. Once you have all your pictures, you're going to go to the "File" tab and click "Open & Place..." Then you upload your pictures and place them where you'd like!

Crop Pictures

part 3 screenshot.png

Now you're going to be cropping your pictures. You go to the Magic Wand Tool, right click on the picture you want to edit, and click the "Magic Cut" button. Try to cut out as much of the background from the image as possible.

Edit Pictures

Next, you rotate the members in the corners (Harry, Niall, Zayn and Liam) to flatter the image. Then, you turn down each of the individual layer's opacity to around 70% except for the layer with the entire band. Then you make it a little brighter by going to the "Layer" tab, going to "New Adjustment Layer..." and clicking "Curves". Finally, you go to the "Filter" tab and click Sharpen.

Add Text

step 5 screenshot.png

Next, we'll be adding text. You don't have to make it fancy right now. You can just set up where you want to put your text and where it fits, like in Step 2.

Edit Text
