Gift Giving Like a PRO!

After learning through Facebook that it's my Niece's 4th birthday coming up, my husband and I did the usual debate of do we or don't we drive four hours to see one of our neices. After learning that my brother's baby momma is pregnant with his third child we decided we aren't "drive down there and spend the night people" anymore. We also decided that after baby number 3 we are now mail two dollar bill people. So here are some Rules to Gift Giving from a Modern Southern Bell.

• At the least everyone gets a card,
  • You can make one yearly trip to the store, pre buy, pre label, and pre stamp this mess and you'll thank yourself later.
  • If your from Virginia, you can send a novelty 2 dollar bill to anyone at any age.
    • If you aren't from Va, the answer is 5 dollars. Sorry.
  • Now, if your family is actually gifty, then you are going to want to slip to the next slide.

So this part is a little tricky but I try to get things delivered to places on the actual day, there are a few ways to do this, and it's less important for kids but my mother in law believes her birthday is only one day a year, so that package has to be on her steps February 1st, not second.

• Check with the post office about how long it takes for things to arrive in places, if you can't find it online, send postcards and count the days for how long it took.
• The Second Option, which we dealt with this year, is Over Night Shipping!
  • Amazon god love them probably needs 20 hours just to find, and ship your item so don't be too last minute on your purchase!
• Also the more you plan the cheaper your gift can be! -Things made in China take for ever to get here but they are within the 10 dollar budget we typically set for gifts!

In the Event of the Neice however,

• The Theme is set for Power Rangers.
  • So Now what do we get a 4 year old!

• Amazon is getting really good at this game!
• YOU CAN NOW SEARCH FOR AGE APPROPRIATE GENERIC GIFTS
  • Cause lets face it, we're all broke.

• So after some searching we typed in the theme of the party and found headphones were on the list, because kids need smaller headphones, we found they also only get so loud which protects their little ears.
  • Now while I don't agree with giving a kid so young something so electronic, my mom spoiled this kid at 2 and got her a kid's kindle. And also as much as she loves it, my brother can quote every episode of Princess Sofia.
• So now this is how you become the cool aunt!!!

So yes, we set the gift limit at 10 dollars,

• Here's why.
  • The Hubs and I figure that 20 dollars when all said and done is how much a small person should get.
  • The gift wrap is about 5 and the shipping and handling can be a bummer too.
  • We set it at 20 dollars because that's a fraction of how much we spend in gas to get there.
  • And while we do like our niece, the idea of being in a Chuckie Cheese two years in a row, sounds pretty rank. As an aunt you get to be aloof, you get to live your own life, sending this package just makes that easier. I didn't have to go to the store and pick it out, The theme is part of the gift, and I didn't have to go stand in line at the post office. All of that is worth the 20 bucks!
