Gift Card Checkerboard
A fun and interesting alternative to throwing out those used up gift cards.
Items needed:
- 64 gift cards
-1 large piece of cardboard
- sharp scissors
- glue
- marker
- paint brush
Step 1
Cut all the cards into squares and lay them out so you know how you want them before you glue them down. The easiest way to cut them is to line them up back to back, take your marker and make lines on them, and then cut them with your sharp scissors. (Note: make sure the scissors are good and sharp. Using duller scissors may result in uneven cuts, which will cause the squares to be uneven when lining up.)
Step 2
Finish
After you have finished gluing down all of the squares, allow them to dry for a few hours to make sure everything is attached perfectly. That's it, you're done! Now to find some checkers...
Notes: If you can't find enough cards of one color or type to alternate between squares, consider using paints or markers or even flipping them over and using the backs. This is my first attempt, and I plan on trying out different things in the future. Also, you could cut the squares smaller if you wish, that way you would need less cards and the board wouldn't be so large.
