Supplies

  • Tinkercad
  • Laptop or Pc

Base Pt. 1

Use the red "box" tool on the right to create a new shape in the workspace. If you want a rectangular gingerbread house, click the squares in the corners which display dimensions and change the values of the length and width to be different from one another (so it isn't square). To change the shape's color, click on it and select the color pallet on the right, and choose brown.

Base Pt. 2

Use the green "triangle" tool to make a new shape in the workspace. Then use the raising tool, which is shown above any shape and looks like a small black cone, to drag the triangle on top of the box. Then, to resize it, click the squares in the corners which display dimensions and change the values of the sides and height to fit perfectly on top of the box. Then recolor like before, to brown.

Select the top (triangle) of the base. Do ctrl+D to duplicate it, and then resize the duplicate to be a decent amount larger than the original, but with the bottom face resting in the same spot as the original. Make sure there's a bit of overhang on the front and back. Then duplicate the duplicate using ctrl+D, and move the new version below the first duplicate using the raising tool, like before. Then switch the shape type to "hole" on the right. Make a new shape using the red "block" tool again and use the raising tool to move it above the roof, but with a little bit of the bottom overlapping. Switch this shape type to "hole" just like the other one, and it should look something like the second to last picture above. Finally, hold shift and click all 3 of these new shapes, and do ctrl+G to group them. It should look like the last picture (shown above) once you do so.

Group + Add Decorations

Hold shift and select all of the shapes making up the gingerbread house. Group them together with ctrl+G. Using your newfound tinkercad editing skills from this tutorial, add some decorations of your own! And there you have it- your own 3d model of a gingerbread house!

Extra tip: After selecting an object, click on the arc with arrows on either side and drag it to rotate the object.
