Glitter Bowl

Who doesn't want a super cute bowl made of glitter and/or confetti?

* Please don't try to eat out of these or use them to hold liquid. Just don't. It's a bad idea that will end poorly.

If you really want to make something that will hold liquid (like a flower vase), use this same technique, but apply it over a clear glass vase or container.

- Glitter

- Confetti (foil, paper, etc)

- Mod Podge

- A balloon

- a paint brush (with soft bristles. Hard bristles may pop your balloon)

- a cup to hold your balloon in place while it dries

- something to line your work area with for easy clean up (I just used wax paper)

Inflate your balloon. Using your paint brush, coat your balloon with a thin layer of Mod Podge. Keep in mind that this is going to be the shape of your bowl.

Before the Mod Podge dries, shake on some glitter. Make sure to get a good coat on. Gently tap off any extra.

Place the balloon in the cup, and allow this to dry completely. Mine only took 15 minutes, but depending on the materials you've used, it can take up to 30 (so be patient!)

ALSO, if you're using the hard, metallic punched confetti like I am, do not apply it in your first layer. The edges are sharp and could pop your balloon.

Repeat the Mod Podge and glitter application at least 2 more times (3 times total) - you can do more if you want a thicker bowl.

I waited to apply my confetti until step 3.

Wait until your bowl is completely dry. This can take hours - I just left mine over night, and most of the next day.

If it's not completely dry, the bowl will collapse!

Poke a very small hole in the top of your balloon (preferably by where it was tied off) and slowly let the air out. The balloon should easily pull out of your glitter bowl. If your top is uneven, you can carefully trim it with scissors. Or, embrace the chaos!

Note: If you want your bowl to last longer and have less glitter fall off, finish it off with a light coat of a clear spray gloss. (I think they even have spray gloss with glitter if you need more!)
