Glowing Apothecary Jar of Spiders
Some times inspiration comes in the oddest ways, I found this large glass vase on the curb the other night then saw a piece on making a faux gumball machine from flowerpots, somehow I put 2 and 2 together, got 37 and got to work gathering supplies
The Supplies
I needed a lid, this stainless bowl from the scrap pile filled the bill nicely but it needed a handle, looking through the halloween box I found a small skull. The vase, like I said, I found on the curb while mining. I needed a clear cylinder so back to the possibilium pile to locate some acrylic rounds I knew I had and then a trip to the dollar store for cobweb, spiders. I also gathered up my hotglue gun and some glue everything to anything.
Your supplies may vary. Actually they WILL vary unless you can find the same vase and bowl on the trash. Don;t like spiders? Fill the jar with skulls or other body parts or even giant gumballs !

The Cylinder
The acrylic rounds I had weren't tall enough for my purpose so I used some of my glue everything to anything to attach the 3 I had together into a taller cylinder. I then stretched some of the dollar store cobwebbing over the cylinder
Spiders and Web
There is no right or wrong way to get the spiders and web in the jar but that web material sticks to every callus and nick in your skin or nails. I ended up grabbing one of the grandbrats toys to work the material down in the jar. I tried to place the spiders in randomly but is anything ever really random? The photo only shows 1 spider, I didn't keep count but there is around a dozen of various sizes
The Lid
After washing the bowl/lid I used some of my stick everything to anything goop to attach the plastic skull to the center of the bowl bottom... sorry no picturee
Gasket
The improvised lid rocked a little on the vase top so I ran a bead of hotglue around the vase rim, while I had the gluegun I went ahead and added some glue webs
Make It Glow
I dropped a small glow stick down to the bottom of the cylinder and used a wire to attach another up higher, in retrospect I'll have to buy some larger glow sticks
Finish
It's difficult getting a picture of a glowing object in the dark with a digital camera but it looks pretty eerie, look for it in my 2012 HAUNTED HOUSE "ible" coming the end of October 2012
