Grandma's Biscuits

Melt in your mouth easy to make biscuits.

Gather Materials

2 cups flour

3 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt (optional)

1/2 cup softened butter

1 egg

2/3 cup milk

Start Mixing

First, mix the flour and baking powder together.

Cutting

Cut the softened butter into the flour, using a pastry blender or a fork, until butter is pea-size.

Mixing the Dough

Beat the egg. Then mix it with the milk. Add the milk-egg mixture to the flour- baking powder mixture. Gently stir until mixed together.

Rolling the Biscuits Out

Sprinkle flour on the surface of counter. Push the dough into a big ball and sprinkle flour on top. Gently knead the ball of dough (or "fluff" like Grandma says). Do not knead like regular bread dough. Roll the dough out until it is about 1/2"- 3/4" thick. Cut the biscuits out with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter.

Baking

Place the biscuits on the pan, make sure biscuits are touching. Bake the biscuits at 450 degrees for 12 - 16 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly browned. Enjoy with butter and jelly or honey.
