Green Hunting Hog Light

Hunting lights using green or red lights are more effective and help in not spooking or scaring hog at night. Although red is less visible to animals, green is more visible to our spectrum of visibility and allows the hunter to see a better shot at night. There are a few commercial made green hunting lights , but they are expensive and usually don't have good range. Pick a flashlight or spotlight with the desired lumens or range. With that in mind let's begin.

Items needed:

1. green bottle
2. Scissors or knife
3. Iron
4. Oven
5. Oven mitts
6. Flashlight or spotlight
7. Duct tape

Use a sheet to cover the bottle and iron with the hottest setting. You only need to iron so that it stays flat.

Do not iron directly on plastic it will melt or ruin your iron!

*if you own a heat gun, you can use it instead of iron.

Bake in Oven at 350 - 400 Degrees.

While it bakes, the plastic will become soft and curl, don't worry you can flatten it again using oven mitts.

The plastic will shrink and get thicker, like the old shrinky dinks from the 80's.

After about 10 - 15 min remove the curled piece and flatten on the counter.

* you can repeat this step until you have reached the desired result.

Trace

Using duct tape, tape the diffuser to the light.

*although you can buy a commercial diffuser in a green spectrum, that goes against the spirit if the instructable nature. Have fun.
