I thought I’d share with you all how I made my fangs for Grell Sutcliff from Black Butler. This technique can also be used for vampire fangs or anything else with sharp teeth! It’s quite an easy and cheap method.

  • False Nails (The best option is to buy a pack of nails like the photo so you get a range of sizes. They should be completely white, plain boring false nails)
  • Fine Point Marker
  • Scissors
  • Nail File
  • Denture Cream (to adhere the teeth)
  • Cotton Tip
  • Container to store your teeth in (I use an old contact lens container that I never used)

Choosing the Nails

Pick which size nails fit your teeth. (For the full set I used two different sizes as I was doing all of my front teeth and my eye teeth.

*Note: if you’re making vampire fangs they are placed onto your eye teeth (the pointy ones).

Once you have chosen your nails grab your marker and sketch out the shape of your fangs.

Make sure that the tip of the nail is the part that you are marking to cut.

*The maker will wipe off when you rub it.

Cutting the Nails

Cut along the edges of the lines that you have just drawn.

File down the raw edges that have just been cut and round off the corners so that they don’t stab you when you wear them.

Apply a small amount of denture cream to the cotton tip and apply to the back of the nail.

If you have multiple sizes make sure that you have the right-sized nail for your tooth and press it into place.

Taking Fangs Off

You can simply pull these off your teeth.

Once you’ve taken off your fangs you will find a build-up of denture cream on your teeth. I wipe this off with a tissue and then give my teeth a good brush.

Keeping Fangs

You want to keep the fangs clean and away from dirt etc. as they will be going in your mouth.

I clean my fangs with cotton tips and a tissue.

To store them I had a couple of unused contact lens containers. I kept the sizes separate and divided them by which side of my mouth they were placed in.

Of Note

*Note: I would not recommend eating with these in. When I wore them to my convention I took them out for lunch and packed the denture cream with me so that I could reapply them.

When I wanted a drink I just popped one tooth out and used a straw.
