Grim Reaper Model

HNI_0062.JPG
this is my first instructable so please be gentle XD... Anyway this grim reaper is made mostly of random things i found around the house, the only thing i had to buy seperately were the display lights and the cape, but there are other alternatives to them which i will explain about later into this instructable. Oh yeah another thing... it's face also lights up! (y)

Step 1: the Frame

The frame is made from the wonderful cronstruction kit known as k'nex... im afraid i havn't got enough detail on the framework :S im sorry... but most of the frame is generally a tower just to support the upper body and head. Also make sure that the base is wider than the body tower as this helps give it more stability.

Step 2: the Arms

This is possibly the most complex part of it's structure as i wanted the arms in fixed positions. My set-up is shown in the pictures but realy the arms can be adapted to your own specific ideas.

Step 3: the Hands

These are also fairly complex... the fingers are made from white rods with a small gap between them wraped in tape, this allows each finger to be bent. On a hand 3 of the fingers are made of 3 rods and the remaining little finger and thumb are made from 2 rods.

Step 4: the Face

The face is the easyest part of the build... all it involves is printing a skull, sticking it to a bowl and sticking it to the body.

Step 5: the Cloak

I went out and bought one cheaply from a costume shop for £2.99, but realy you could also use black bin bags aswell

Step 6: the Sythe

Yet another easy part to make... i could have cheated and bought a plastic one... but i thought they were too tacky... so i made one out of a piece of card, an old broom handle and some runner bands

Step 7: Light

for this i used one of those push LED lights taped to a piece of card stuck behind the face, you could also have used a torch or any other light source. Then your reaper is comlete and ready to scare in the day and night =]
