Hairstyles for Boys With Long Hair
I decided to do a hairstyle on my 2 year old son. I chose to do this because its hard to find hairstyles for boys, especially if they have long hair. He hates when his hair is in his face sometimes, so this is an easy up-do for him.
Supplies
- 16 rubber bands (grab extras just in case they break)
- Water spray bottle
- Tangle spray (optional)
- Detangle brush
- Pin tail comb
Brush the Hair
- Damp the hair with the spray bottle
- Detangle the hair with the detangle brush (starting from ends to roots)
- Spray the hair using tangle spray (this helps with knots and less breakage)
Middle Part
- Use a pin tail comb and make a middle part. This should separate to a left and right side.
- Choose one side to work on at a time. I'll start on the right side.
Section Off One Side
- Using pin tail comb, section off 7 parts.
- Split each section into 2 more parts
- Part 7 should only have 1 part at the bottom
- Secure each section with a rubber band at the roots
Start Three-strand Braid
- Take section I and start 3-strand braid
- Take section 2 and start 3-strand braid
- Criss-cross section 1 and 2 (making an "x')
- Section 1 crosses over to section 4.(Let go of section 3)
- Undo the rubber-band in section 4 and secure both sections together with rubber band
- Start with Section 2 and cross over to section 3.
- Undo the rubber-band in section 3 and secure both sections with rubber-band
Braid Ends of 3 and 4
- Braid section 3 in 3-strand braid
- Braid section 4 in 3-strand braid
- Criss-cross section 3 and 4
Secure Sections
- Section 4 crosses over to section 5 (let go of section 3)
- Undo rubber-band in section 5 and secure both sections together with rubber- band
- Section 3 crosses over to section 6
- Undo rubber-band in section 6 and secure both sections together with rubber-band
Braid 5 and 6
- Braid section 5 in 3-strand braid
- Braid section 6 in 3-strand braid
- Looking at section 6, the section starts off not being braided anymore after securing parts together so you have to re-braid each section as you go
Connect 5 and 6 to 7
- Undo rubber-band in section 7
- Grab sections 5 and 6 and secure braids to 7
- Take rubber-band and secure all 3 sections together at the roots
- Braid section 7 with 3-strand braid
- Secure the bottom of section 7 with extra rubber-band
Repeating Steps for Other Side
- Start on left side
- Repeat steps 3-8
