Halloween 2018 LED lamp

In this Instructables i make a halloween lamp. I use resin to make the shade and eyes and i use a lathe turn the base of the lamp. Ive broken this project down into 4 steps and added a video which has a lot more detailed information.

Here is what you will need.

1 - Using a dome mould i put a small amount of resin in and left to cure filling the mould about 1/3.

2 - Then using acrylic paints i painted the pupil of the eyes leaving this then to dry.

3 - Using glow in the dark powders in a small amount of resin, i then poured a small amount of resin into the domes filling to 2/3.

4 - For the last layer i used white resin dye.

I put aside to cure.

Now its time to mix the resin for the shade. I used a silicone sheet to pour the resin onto as it doesnt stick and is easy to remove.

1 - I do nothing fancy just swirl the resin with a good mix of glow in the dark resin. I leave it to cure overnight.

2 - The next morning the resin had cured but is still soft enough to be able to heat with a hair dryer and shape. iI used a round mic to mould it over and leave it to cool. It then keeps this shape.

3- Glue the eyes on with 5 min 2 part epoxy and i added some designs with tulip glue.

1 - I made the base on the lathe, a simple shape made the recess for the LED light.

2 - I used wood dyes to colour the base and finished with a high gloss wax.

Now to put it all together.

I cut a plastic bottle in half and placed into the recess around the LED. This was a tight fit so will hold the shade well, i have a remote control for the light so i can turn it on and off with removing the shade.

All done.
