Halloween Witch Decoration

For Halloween, I wanted to make a witch decoration, so I put together a witch using black fabric and moldable wire. Here are the instructions to make a witch.

Supplies

  1. 2 green balls
  2. Black fabric (A more solid color for the hat and a shinier fabric for the body)
  3. Bendable wire (Smaller more flexible wire and a bigger sturdier wire)
  4. Red Paint
  5. Black Ribbon (1 in)

Cutting the Fabric

Before you start cutting mark the shape on your piece of fabric with either a marker or some tape. Cut the shimmery fabric into a shape that's wider at the bottom and narrower at the top where the balls should go. For a reference on what the shape should look like, look at the picture of the cut out fabric.

Making the Wire Stucture

Bend the wire into the shape of the bottom half of the witch. It should be slightly bigger at the bottom and narrower at the top. Keep in mind that whatever size your structure is should fit inside of the piece of fabric that you cut in the previous step. Twist different pieces of wire together by using slightly smaller more flexible wire. After your wire is stable enough to hold two balls, using your finer more flexible wire, carefully attach the balls to the top.

Attaching Your Fabric

Place your fabric on top of your wire structure. Cut off any excess fabric. For the fabric at the top of the head, using your ribbon tie it into a ponytail-like shape where your witches hat should go and then snip off the extra fabric. Also use your ribbon to tie it around the two balls, so the head and body are distinct circular shapes. Hot glue the ends of the fabric in the back, so it doesn't fall apart. Also use your hot glue to help you attach your black fabric to the wire towards the bottom of the witch, until you feel that your wire is secure to your witch.

Using the solid black fabric cut out a circle however big you want the base of the witch's hat to be. Then bend your wire into a circle shape the same size as the fabric you just cut. Place the fabric on the wire and hot glue it to the wire, by bending the fabric over the bottom side of your wire.

Flip your base so that the side with the fabric is facing up and then using your wire, build the top of the hat. To make the top I made a smaller circle of wire and then attached two pieces of wire in a cross to the sides of the circle, creating the pointy middle part of a witch hat. Using the same fabric you used for your base, wrap some fabric around the wire. Cut of any extra fabric that you may have, and then neatly hot glue the ends of the fabric together and then the fabric to the wire.

Using hot glue, attach the top of the hat to the base of your witches hat. Then attach your witches hat to the top of your witches head.

Painting the Face

Using red paint, paint two red eyes and a mouth. Now your ready to use your witch!
