Hand Painted Acorn Magnets/Scatters
My wedding wasn't cool and geeky, mainly because our families are full of people who wouldn't get it... :) But I think it turned out pretty nice. Our wedding was held in a vineyard in Central Illinois, with an autumn theme. I LOVE fall, the colors, the smells...
Each child that attended got a little gift bag of fun. In the bags for the older kids, I included these adorable acorn magnets. Some of the moms asked for some, good thing I brought extras! They are very easy to make and were a huge hit.
Materials Used:
glass decorative stones (dollar store)
plain white paper
brown and white acrylic craft paint
paint brush
clear acrylic seal
Mod Podge
magnetic tape
1. Make sure each stone is clean before you begin. I cut a little circle for the back of each stone, and attached it with Mod Podge.
2. I painted the acorns in two parts: Light brown bottom part first. Once that dried, I went back and added the darker brown cap and accents.
3. I let it dry for a few hours before applying the clear acrylic seal spray.
4. After everything was dry, I cut little circles of magnetic tape to fit the back of the stones, removed the sticky backing, and firmly pressed it to the white paper backing of each stone.
Viola! Adorable acorn magnets. Leave off the magnetic tape, and they work super as scatters around a pillar candle or centerpiece. I used the leftovers around my house, a nice little reminder of my special day. I love these lil' guys...
