Handy Handle

Have you ever been out shopping and had to carry a heavy bag (or bags) a long way home?

Did you have to carry multiple bags and had to set them down every block to return the circulation in your fingers?

Did you ever need to carry a bundle of wood, or a box?

What you need is a handle in your pocket.

The working piece is a piece of rope, 12 to 18 inches long, tied into a loop.

The handle can be made from any available stick, pen, marker or pipe.

The knot used is simple to learn and easy to tie.

This handy handle also doubles as a storage unit for the rope.

This pipe can contain the six strands of rope, and still allow them to be easily removed.

This knot is called the cow hitch.

The same knot can be used for both ends of the handle.

Loop the rope into the handle of the bag. Insert the handle through the loop and pull tight.

A longer rope will allow the load to hang lower, possibly dragging on the ground.

Either tie the loop shorter, or double the rope to shorten it.

If you don't have a pipe, you can carry a lighter, pen or even a piece of wood, with the rope, and still have a handle.

Bonus: Remove the handle and the rope can hang on a hook.
