For this project, the cup should be a metal can or cylinder, as it helps to transfer the heat better to the circuit board thermistor. I used a soup can for mine, but you can use anything you have lying around. Just clean it out and take the label off. I also used some PVC pipe to conceal the electronics underneath the cup, as well as some cardboard and paper to make it look cooler.

There are no definite measurements for this, it depends however you want the cup top look like.

The circuit playground bluefruit makes it easy to attach any accessories that are required for builds. The Neopixel strip should be red clip on VOUT, White clip on A6 and black clip on any ground. once this is done and the battery pack is plugged in, it can be attached.

I attached the CPB to the bottom of the can using masking tape, and glued the PVC on top of the CPB. This created a tube to insert the battery pack. Once this was dried, I Made a ring of cardboard covered with paper around the pvc pipe to make a shell.

Finishing and Code

Run the code in the intro, and watch the lights change color as you put in either hot or cold liquids!

Make sure the cup stands steady before putting in water so it doesn't spill.
