Hit & Damage Counter (Dice Alternative)

Title picture.PNG

This "Hit & Damage Counter" is designed to serve as an efficient and fun alternative to dices. A dice needs to be rolled once to determine whether there is a "Hit" to an enemy. A dice might need to be rolled twice to determine the "Damage" of the hit. The new dice alternative, Hit & Damage Counter, can be used to determine the number of enemies been hit and the amount of the damages at one move. It saves time of rolling dices over and over again, and it has a fun mechanism to provide outcome of counting hits and damages for RPG games

Hole Size.PNG

For example, here is a typical RPG setup. A mage can cast two spells: fire ball and fire splash.

Both of them are range attacks. The fire ball is a stronger magic with smaller range and higher accuracy; however, the fire splash has lower damage and accuracy but wider range. First, determine the number of enemies in the range of the attack. For fire ball, check the front region with 1.5" in width and 4" in depth. On the other hand, the fire splash is a 360 degree range attack with 2" in depth. Second, pick the size of beads based on the accuracy. The center hole of the cap which will be used to count towards "Critical Hit!!!!" is 7.5mm in diameter , and the outer holes which will be used to count towards "Hit" are 9mm in diameter. The bigger the size of the beads are; the lower the probabilities of hits are. Therefore, 5mm beads can be used to simulate fire splash which has low accuracy, and 3mm beads can be used to simulate fire ball which has high accuracy.

The video shows an example of using the "Hit and Damage Counter" to count the damages of ten enemies in the range of a fire splash attack in a single move.

Ten 5mm beads were dropped on the "Hit and Damage Counter". The result is 7 misses, 2 critical hits (damage 100), and 1 hit (damage 70).
