Home Baked and Glazed Cookies
SUGAR COOKIES:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup / 125 ml butter/margarine
1 cup / 250 ml sugar
1 egg
2 desert spoon/ 30 ml milk
1/2 tea spoon vanilla essence
2 1/2 cups / 625ml flour
2 tea spoons / 10 ml baking powder
1/2 tea spoon salt
Directions:
Cream the butter and sugar. Mix the egg and milk and mix with the butter mix. Mix the rest of the ingredients in. Place in cool dry place for about a hour or so to rest. Splash flour on a work area and roll the dough out. (Tip: If you don't have a roller, you can use a bottle (like wine bottle) also :-)). Cut shapes and place on prepared baking tray (cook a spray or brushed oil/butter/margarine). Bake until golden on 180 C.
GLAZE ICING:
1/2 cup Icing powder
1/2 tea spoon Salt
1-2 tea spoon milk/water
Colouring/flavouring
DIRECTIONS:
Take cooled off cookie and put on wax paper or you can hold in your hand if you prefer. Take a spoon full of glaze icing and start to run a line about 2 mm from the end of the cookie all around. Start to full the inside now also. Use the spoon to full and a toothpic for smaller spaces. You can also use a small zipper bag and cut the one end off below and fill the bag with the icing.
To make a little heart you have to drop one drop (another colour) into the iced cookie and drag the toothpick through it to form a heart.
If you want one side one colour and the other another colour and want to blend it in nicely: take the toothpick and draw lines through from the one colour through the other one.
