My Homemade 4x4x4 L.E.D Cube with L.C.D!!

Part One: Wood Working

Making The Grooves For The Switch Power Supply Plug And LCD

I add spacers (in the corners) so there is room between the board and the wooden box.

The L.E.D Cube It's Self.

Soldiering the L.E.D's together according to the schematics (View pictures for better understanding).

-The L.E.D are in a Distance of 2mm from each other. from the center of one to the one next to is and above/ below.

-Make sure you bend each L.E.D correctly.

anode(Red in picture) bending in 90 degrees to the outside of the L.E.D and then back down as soon as it is outside the diameter of the L.E.D.

Cathode(Blue in picture) in 90 degrees.

-In each level I left the cathode sticking out in a different spot out of the 4 L.E.D in the back. (As seen in the picture). so when it comes down it'll be in the back neatly.

1. The L.E.D cube uses, The 4 floors as -V cathode(Blue in picture) and the 16 columns as +V anode(Red in picture). You need 16 transistors. Each transistor is connected to a column. And is between ~50ohm to ~100ohm

-View the blue lines as -V (cathode) and the red lines as +V (anode).

-2n222a is a transistor. It is an electrical component that can be used as a switch, it has three legs. one leg is "input", one leg is "output", and the third leg controls whether the input goes out or not. (The collector needs to get the +V in and the emitter goes to ground)

Fitting All the Components In!

After making all the components and putting the spacers(standoff's) in the wood so we have room for all the wires from both the L.E.D and L.C.D including the wires from the bored to the arduino. we are ready to fit every thing together.
