Homemade Bouncy Balls

This step by step guide will show you an easy and creative way to make homemade bouncy balls. This is a great activity to do with kids that is easy to do and inexpensive to make!

Gather the Ingredients

Gather the following ingredients:

· Borax

· Glue

· Corn starch

· Food coloring

· Warm water

· 2 plastic cups

· Plastic spoon

· Measuring spoon

· Measuring cup

· Marker

Label the "Borax Solution"

Label one of the plastic cups “Borax Solution”

Label the "Ball Mixture"

Label the other plastic cup “Ball Mixture”

Mix Water and Borax

In the Borax Solution cup, pour 4 ounces of warm water. Then add 1 teaspoon of borax powder and stir with the plastic spoon. Mix well until all of the borax powder is completely dissolved in the water.

Mix Glue and Food Coloring

In the Ball Mixture cup pour 1 tablespoon of glue and add 3-4 drops of food coloring. Mix until the coloring is completely mixed in.

Combine the Two Mixtures

Add ½ teaspoon borax solution and 1 tablespoon cornstarch to the glue mix. Do not stir immediately.

Allow the Mixtures to React

Allow the two mixes to sit for 10-15 seconds to react with each other.

Mix!

Stir the mixture until impossible to mix anymore.

Remove the Mixture

Remove the mixture from the cup and knead in your hands into a ball shape. The mixture will be sticky and at first, but will harden as you continue to knead.

Knead Into a Ball

The ball will take 3-5 minutes to solidify. Once the mixture has hardened into a ball, bounce!
