Homemade Chocolate Sauce
Making Chocolate Sauce is easy, fast and tasty. That's a good combination. It tastes as well or better than the store bought stuff and I know what's in it. I use it in my coffee in the morning, sometimes my afternoon cappucino, we use it in smoothies (chocolate peanut butter and chocolate strawberry mostly) and I nearly always have a chocolate milk after a run. Great stuff. Let's get started.
Gather Your Ingredients
Not much here:
3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 cup of water
Mix
I find things go better if I mix the sugar and cocoa powder together in the sauce pan first then stir in the water
Cook
Heat the mixture over medium heat until you get a simmer, stir often and cook it this way for about a minute. Use your spoon to break up the little balls of cocoa powder and get it all combined. There will probably form a bit of foam in the middle. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool, you may skim the foam off after cooling. Put the sauce in a squeeze container and keep in the refrigerator. I don't know how long it keeps, I usually need to make a fresh batch every couple of weeks. The whole process takes maybe 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
Mocha, chocolate milk, smoothies, ice cream sundaes, Whatever you like. For my morning coffee I use a Tablespoon or so of chocolate sauce, 1/3 cup of milk and fill the rest of my favorite mug with coffee right out of my Bialetti. Highly recommeded.
