Homemade Toothpaste for Dogs!

hmdogtoothpaste2.jpg

This is a super simple recipe to make toothpaste for your dogs. You should never use human toothpaste as it contains fluoride in it, which is poisonous to dogs. Dog toothpaste can be expensive but, with this cheap alternative your dogs teeth can be clean in no time!

Introducing the toothpaste to your dogs.

Allow your dog to smell the toothpaste or, put a small amount on your finger and let them lick it off. My dogs responded to this toothpaste as a treat which meant it was easy to brush their teeth. When you do brush your dogs teeth, you can use a regular people toothbrush (I have a designated dog toothbrush to brush their teeth.) Put your dog in a comfy position to prevent him from running away. Calmly talk to your dog. Put a some toothpaste on the toothbrush and, in a circular motion brush your dog's teeth, aiming at the areas with the most plaque. Try to get your dog not to lick it all away. Wipe of any extra toothpaste and give your dog water. Your dog should now have some nice pearly whites!

What's the purpose of each ingredient?

  • beef bouillon- to make the toothpaste yummy for your pup.
  • cinnamon- to make your pup's breath smell nicer.
  • baking soda- to take away any plaque on their teeth.
  • coconut oil- to hold all the ingredients together.
