in this instructable, you will learn how to make a heart and breast cancer ribbon using horseshoes. However, the possibilities are almost endless as far as what you can make using horseshoes. In this tutorial, we will be focusing on a heart and breast cancer ribbon so let's get started..

Supplies

four horseshoes
4" angle grinder with cutoff wheel
grinding disk
welder
clamp
marker
paint

all you will need for this project are 4 horseshoes. you can buy them new at a tack store like Cal Ranch or tractor supply. or if your lucky enough to know someone with horses, you can ask them for a few. as far as tools go, you will need a welder(I used a 110v wire welder) an angle grinder, a clamp, and something to mark the horseshoe with (I used soap stone) a.k.a chalk

Layout the Cuts

this is probably the most important step. figuring out where to cut the horseshoes. I just place one on top of the other, and position them to create the shape I need. where the horseshoe cross over, make a mark.

Cutting the Pieces

using a 4in angle grinder, with a cutting disk, and a clamp to hold the horseshoe in place, carefully cut along your marks. ( safety glasses are strongly recommended)

Weld Them Together

this is a great project even for beginner welders. position the pieces where you want them and weld them together. once they are welded, be sure to grind the welds smooth, using the 4in grinder and sanding pad. once that is complete, we are ready for the final step.

Painting Your Art

this step is pretty self explanatory, paint the finished pieces. I used spray paint but you may use acrylic or whatever you prefer.
