How to Make a Halo M7 Sub Machine Gun Prop
Ever wanted to build a halo weapon? Well here's a guide to get you started, without the hassle of pepakura, resin, fiberglass and all those nasty chemicals.
Gather Materials
You need paper, pencils, cardboard, glue, some sort of tube for the barrel, styrofoam, scissors, hot glue sticks, a hot glue gun, and a reference image. Here's a good image.
Create Blue Print Using Reference Image
Carefully make a blueprint of the SMG, noting the details and lines, you will use them later.
Trace and Cut Out 4 Slices of Blueprint
Be presice, use an exacto knife, and then cut it through with scissors following the exacto knife lines.
Find Barrel
You have to be a bit creative with his one. Find some sort of tube object that can be used as a barrel. I used a disposable tooth brush container. Then, cut the two slices of the trace to fit the barrel, and then place the other two on either side.
Cut Out Details From Blueprint
At this point you are going to cut the remaining pieces from the blueprint following the lines. That way, you can create slices for your details.
Trace and Cut Details Onto Styrofoam
Instead of using cardboard, we are going to trace this on styrafoam, a thinner, cleaner solution to the problem!
Cut and Glue on Stock
Using the same method for the body, cut out 4 slices of the stock, and then glue it on the back using hot glue. Keep it in place for 1 minute after glueing to make sure it is sturdy.
More Styrafoam!
Eat out pieces from the styrafoam to cover up the ugly corrugated sides of the cardboard base. That way, the sides look cleaner, as for the top of the gun, I used a piece of paper and glued it to make a rounder seeming top.
Cut Out Sights
Cut out 4 semi circles for the sights.
Glue Stuff Together
Glue everything together EXCEPT the right side main detail. We are going to do something cool with that later.
Paint :D
Use a flat coat of matte black spray paint or black acrylic paint on the whole gun. Wait for it to dry.
Details
Using a crafting knife, carve out details from the gun. I also cut a rectangle for where the bolt would be, colored the part silver, and then glued the top slice on top.
Finished!!!
And that's it! Now go make a suit to go with that too! :P
