How to Make a Popsicle Stick Picture Frame
Required Materials:
- 16 Jumbo craft sticks (popsicle sticks)
- Hot glue gun
- Poster paper
- Scissors
Getting Started
In this case, I decided to make the picture frame in the shape of an octagon (stop sign). This will take eight (8) jumbo Popsicle sticks, and you’ll need to heat up the glue gun.
Making the Shape
Lay the sticks down on a flat surface in an octagon shape.Have a few of the sticks overlap just slightly, about the length of a fingernail.
Adding the Glue
Once the shape is laid out and the glue gun is hot, put a droplet of hot glue in the middle of end of the Popsicle stick. Place the Popsicle stick without glue to the stick with glue and hold for five seconds.
Glue Sticks Together
Continue Step 3 until an octagon shape has been created.
Outline With a Smaller Octagon
Once the big octagon has been created, we will no make a smaller octagon inside the bigger one. Lay out the sticks against the bigger octagon so the edges of the smaller octagon are overlapping the bigger one.
Glue the Smaller Octagon to the Larger One
When the smaller octagon is laid out, glue them together like you did the larger octagon. Make sure to also glue the edges of the smaller octagon to the bigger octagon.
Outside Frame Finished
Make sure all of the sticks are glued to one another and will hold when standing upright.
Outline the Shape Onto a Large Piece of Paper
When all of the Popsicle sticks are safely glued together, outline the shape of the small octagon onto the poster paper and cut it out.
Cut the Shape Out and Glue It Onto Frame
When the shape is traced and cut, glue the paper in the shelf that the larger and small octagon creates. Cut excess paper off, if needed.
Frame Complete
When you've decided what picture or artwork you want in your frame, place it in the middle and attach it to the poster (the poster will act as a white boarder between the artwork/picture and the Popscile stick frame).
