Building a router sled may seem hard at first. However, with the right tools and steps, it becomes fast and simple. In this guide, we'll show you how to assemble the SpeTool Cratos PRO router sled, helping you achieve perfect results in your woodworking projects..
Whether you are flattening slabs with a mill or improving your skills, the SpeTool Cratos PRO is a strong tool. The device is simple to use and designed for accuracy. Let’s dive into the step-by-step assembly process to get you up and running!
Why You Need a Router Sled in Your Workshop
A router sled is essential for anyone working with large wood slabs. It can help build a strong workbench, make tabletops, or create custom furniture by giving you a smooth, even surface at the right depth.
The SpeTool Cratos PRO router sled can easily handle slabs of different thicknesses. This makes it great for precise slab flattening. It lets you work with materials of various sizes and thicknesses. This way, you can handle many woodworking projects.
Supplies

- 2 high-strength anodized aluminum alloy rails (6061)
- 2 slide platforms (one pre-drilled, one blank for DIY adjustments)
- 8 wheels and associated hardware (screws, nuts, knobs, washers)
- 2 lifts (left and right sections)
- M816 silvery bolts and M812 black bolts (knobs)
- Clamping tools for securing wooden blocks
- Router plate (compatible with most routers)
- Router bit (for final cuts)
Unbox and Organize Parts

Begin by carefully unpacking the parts and organizing them to ensure all components are easily accessible during assembly. This will make the process smoother and help avoid missing parts.
Assemble the Wheels

Attach the 8 wheels to the slide platforms. Use M4*12 flat head screws and M4 lock nuts to secure each wheel in place. Be sure to stay consistent with each wheel assembly.
Attach the Rails

Slide the M8 sliding nuts into the pre-drilled holes on the rails. These nuts will hold the platform securely in place. Place the lifts (left and right sections) onto the rails and align the holes with the sliding nuts. Adjust as needed.
Secure the Platform

Use M8*14 combination screws to mount the slide platform onto the rails. Tighten the screws firmly to secure the platform. You can choose to mount the board either lengthwise or sideways, depending on your workspace and preferences.
Attach the Knobs

Attach the M8*16 knobs to the lifts using flat washers. These knobs allow for easy height adjustment of the sled. Insert the fix knob into the wheel assembly to ensure the sled stays stable during use.
Install the Router Plate

Slide the router plate into the rails. The plate comes pre-drilled for most routers, and there’s also a blank plate for custom DIY adjustments.
Mount your router and insert the router bit into the plate. Thanks to the SpeTool Cratos PRO router sled’s design, the router slides smoothly for precise adjustments.
Fine-Tune the Height Adjustment

The SpeTool Cratos PRO router sled has 5 pre-set Z-axis positions. This lets you adjust the sled’s height easily and accurately. Whether working with thin or thick materials (ranging from 3/4 inch to 6 inches), simply select the height that works best for your project.
Secure the Wood Plate

Use the provided clamping tools to secure your wood slab to the sled. This keeps the wood in place during the flattening process, helping things run smoothly and steadily.
Test the Setup

With everything assembled, test your sled. Adjust the height, insert your router bit, and begin flattening your wood slabs. The SpeTool Cratos PRO router sled gives you smooth and accurate results. It features sturdy aluminum rails and easy-to-use adjustment options.
