Hello! This page will be a guide on how to build the Monkey Monkey. Packaging stuffed monkeys into a box can be a boring, repetitive task. So, we made Monkey Monkey to make it fun! In the future we hope to make the inner compartments more easily accessible.

How does it work?

A monkey is placed to the right of the paddle and the machine is turned on. Then, press the button until the monkey is out. Before placing the next monkey, make sure the paddle is back to the starting position (right).

Supplies

You will need for the circuit:

  1. 1 Arduino Uno R3
  2. 1 Potentiometer
  3. 2 Pushbuttons
  4. 2 10 kO resistors
  5. 1 H-bridge motor
  6. 1 9V Battery
  7. 1 Vex motor
  8. 3 220O Resistors
  9. 3 LED's

You will need for the outer shell + paddle:

  1. Plywood (or corrugated plastic)
  2. Hot Glue
  3. Wood Glue

For this, you will need all the circuit components. We used the "Arduino Project Book" (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D3ChFBqaL3Dhd4anDJwaXd1lTIFYc6DL/view) to build this with the addition of three LED's. Refer to pg. 104 of book for build. The code is linked below:

Build Outer Shell

To design the shell we used OnShape for the dimensions. To see dimensions go to "https://cad.onshape.com/documents/0ee1303ea8cca197fa7aa4f3/w/e8303f152296d774115bf185/e/1741cbcf656ae9ea02bf8625?renderMode=0&uiState=680ba4c6f8bc27522005c90c". Connect pieces with a lot of glue to ensure that it stays together. A steady base is essential.

Put Them Together!

Once you box and circuit are built you can put them together. Ensure that the LED's and direction switch button are fully accessible. The paddle is connected to a gearbox and chain, which we outsourced. The motor connects to the gearbox axis with a bevel gear. For safety, all components should be under the shelf and behind the machine (besides button and LED's.)
