How to Correctly Shoot a Basketball
Being able to shoot a basketball correctly is important to master in order to play the sport, basketball is a simple sport you need to be able to make the basketball inside the hoop, you shoot behind the three point line and you get three points, you shoot inside the three point line you get two points. Having the right form and habits is essential for shooting.

Keeping a Right Stance
Keep your feet at the same distance as your shoulder width, you should keep your shooting foot slightly ahead of your other foot, your shooting foot is on the same side as your shooting arm, your hip, shoulder, and elbow, should be aligned with the basket.
Holding the Ball Correctly
Dip the ball down to your waist and the ball and your eyes should be align with the hoop.
Positioning Your Elbow
Learn to position the ball in the same place every time, position your elbow so its in line with your shoulder, not directly under the ball, and use your non shooting hand to guide the ball position it next to the ball, you should be shooting with your shooting hand only.
Grip the Ball
Leave a little space between your palm and the ball, so the ball will be able to roll of your hand easily with no problem, the ball should be sitting on your finger pads, and spread your fingers wide so you can have a greater grip on the ball.
Locate the Hoop
always look at the hoop when your shooting, if you want it to directly hit the net then look for the net, if you want it to hit the backboard then look for the backboard, after you release the ball, follow the flight of the ball .
Taking the Shot
Push the ball upward with your shooting hand, as your hips rise up and you are in the jumping motion move the ball from your dip to eye level and then release the ball off your fingerprints towards the basket if the lines spin symmetrically then you positioned the ball correctly. Don't let the ball go behind your head or to the side.
Jump Forward
Jump slightly forward when you shoot, making sure your shoulders lean back and keep them relaxed, your feet should land forward not in the same position where you started. Don't lean forward as you jump, if your body is balanced you should jump in a natural motion and it will cause the shot to be balanced.
Follow Through
Following through with your wrist is very important in basketball, if you don't follow through the shot might nit be as accurate, after you follow through your hand will make a flick looked downward and your fingers pointed towards the hoop.
