How to Create a Magic Circle
Magic circles are used to create circular crocheted projects. This will help you make different shapes such as a heart, star, circle, etc. All yarn types and hook types are able to make a magic circle.
Supplies
- Yarn (any size)
- Crochet hook (recommended size to match yarn, will say on the packaging)
Gather All Supplies
Gather your yarn and crochet hook. Pick a hook that matches the yarn you are using. It will say on the packaging of the yarn what the recommended hook size you should use.
Hold Yarn
Start by holding the beginning of the yarn in between your thumb and pointer finger.
Wrap Yarn Around
Wrap the yarn around your pointer, middle and ring finger. This should create a full circle at your thumb.
Create an X
Once you get the yarn back to your thumb wrap around again, but this time cross it over the yarn thats already wrapped. This will create an x on the top of your fingers and 2 lines on the bottom.
Insert Crochet Hook
Insert the crochet hook under the first line of yarn, closest to your finger tips, and hook onto the back piece of yarn.
Pull the Yarn Through
Pull the hooked yarn under the front piece of yarn. Once the yarn is through the front piece twist the hook so it is facing upward, to create a loop.
Yarn Over
Yarn over and pull through the loop that was created by twisting the hook up.
Chain One
Yarn over again and pull through the loop to chain one, to create a foundation.
Stitch Into Circle
Start crocheting in the circle using whichever stitch you want to continue your project.
