How to Cut a Pumpkin

Today I am going to show you how to cut a pumpkin. I hope this helps the next time you have a pumpkin that needs cutting! Don't forget to comment in the comment's section below.

You want to get a large chopping board and a good knife.

To start, cut out the top piece, using the end of your knife to stab slanting slits all the way around until you can pull it out.

Starting at the top, with a rocking motion slowly bring down your knife about half way. Take the knife out of the pumpkin, then with the point down, (see photo 2) push knife straight down through the pumpkin right to the chopping board and then finish slice by bringing the handle down (see photo 3). Then repeat with the other cuts.

Continue with the whole pumpkin making slices which ever size that you like. Thinner slices are good for roasting, and thicker slices for chopping up into pieces.

Clean out the seed pulp from the slices of pumpkin leaving the skin on.

For the big pieces of pumpkin, slice off the skin making sure to keep your fingers up and out of the way, and trying to keep as much of the pumpkin as possible.

Then continue on to chop up into larger of smaller pieces. I like to do a few of each, as I find the smaller pieces are good roasted for salads or chucked in a soup. The bigger bits are good for boiling or roasting.

Once you have finished all of your pumpkins, I recommend putting them in bags and then in the freezer for later use.
