How to Disassemble a Large Ball Bearing and Anneal It
Demonstrating how to disassemble or take apart a large industrial ball bearing for use in a steady rest project for my Sears Craftsman 12 x 36” Atlas Lathe. The large ball bearing will be annealed in my blacksmith forge and left to air cool in the hopes I can machine the race with my lathe. Ball bearing races are extremely high quality steel, extremely hard, and not able to be machined as is without being annealed. Thankfully I have a blacksmith propane forge that should be up to the task….stick around and see how it works out for me!
As Always…..Thanks For Watching!
