How to Do My First Acro Yoga Pose!
Hi everyone!
Today I am going to teach you how to take you first step into the world of Acro-Yoga! ** Crowd cheering in the background **
What is Acro-yoga you ask? Easy! It is the combination of Acrobalance and Yoga. Pretty cool right?
Acro-yoga is done in pairs(Base + Flyer), and will strengthen our body, flexibility as well as our connection to our partner! Trust me, it's easier than it sounds!
As soon as you complete this instructable you will be able to contact me and ask me(the joe-man) to make more instructables! ....and of course take your next steps into being an acro-yoga world champion.
We will focus our attention on one pose today - The bird!
Supplies
- Yoga Mat!
- Triangle (optional - for people with flexibility issues)
Step 1: Our Starting Position!
The Base:
- The base Will lie on his back ( usually the stronger person ) and will prepare himself/herself for impact!
- Will place his/her feet on the flyers hip bones
- Will get the hands ready to receive the flyer ( after receiving will keep the hands complete locked in order to prevent injuries )
The Flyer:
- Will prepare to trust the base - Hardest damn part!
- Will stay completely straight and not bend over
- Hold in the core and keep the chest up
Step 2: Our Mid-way Position
The Base:
- Will bend the knees all the way to the chest and prepare to push up using the momentum of the flyers fall
- Keep the lower back touching the ground
The Flyer:
- Will make absolutely sure not to bend over and stay straight - like a plank
- Keep the core strong while like up
- Keep the chest up
Step 3: the Final Countdown!
The Base:
- Keep the center of the mass right above his hips ( L Shape )
- Keep his lower back touching the ground
- Keep his hands in front of the chest - locked and ready to prevent the flyer from falling foward!
- Pro Tip! Point your toes! Controlling the flyer from falling forward
The Flyer:
- Strong core! Helping our base a little.
- Chest up
- Hands locked in front of our chest touching the base's hands.
Voila!
You've got yourself one hell of a bird!
