How to Do a Skin Fade

This a sort of easy step by step of how to do a skin fade.

Supplies

  1. Hair clippers
  2.  Trimmer ( not necessary )
  3.  Clipper guards
  4.  Comb
  5.  Mirror

Organize your supplies neatly. Begin by combing hair down in the direction it grows.

Proceed to debulk the hair with either a #3 or #4 guard. Whatever you prefer. When debulking, keep in mind, go straight off the side of the head instead of following the round shape of the head. This helps make the cut look better.

Use the trimmers, or hair clipper if you don't have a trimmer, to make your blad line. This is where the fade will begin. The placement of where you want to place the line is optional. I usually do it right above where the ear meets the head. For this fade make this line all around the head.

Now cut all the hair under the bald line you just made.

Now, with the lever fully open, cut up around half an inch.

Put on a #1 guard, keeping the lever open still, cut up around a half inch as well.

Now, with the #2 guard, do the same as step 7.

Now remove the guard and close the lever about half way. Then use the corner of the blade to fade out the bottom line. Adjust the lever if necessary.

Repeat the same process with the #2 guard.

Now you should be left with something like this.
