How to Dress in a Yukata

Yukata is a traditional Japanese outfit, which is often worn during the summertime.

Step1:Purchase a Yukata.

In addition to the yukata itself, you must have a juban, a koshi himo, a datejime, a korin-belt, and an obiita.

Put on a slip called the "hadagi".

Put on the yukata, making sure the back seam is centered.

You have put on your yukata. Pull the yukata so the it ends at your ankle.

Cross the koshihimo in the back and tie it in the front.

Take the korin-belt and wrap it around your waist.

Take the datejime and wrap it around your waist over the korin-belt.

Step 8:How to Tie an Obi for Yukata

Take about 16 or an arm's length from one obi end and fold it in half. Hold this end on your left.

Fold the right end to make a triangle shape.

While holding left end, wrap the obi around the waist 2 times.

Tie left and right together.

Bring left to the upper center and bring vertical line.

Open up the right. Bring the right from the center to the right and fold to the front.

Decide the ribbon length and fold.

Bring down the left. Pull up the left. Roll up the left. Insert the left behind the obi.
