Trust me keeping straight edges in crochet is easier than you think. There are all a variety of different methods or you may call them Knick Knacks available which a Crocheters uses according to their choice. It all depends on the last turning chains you use to start the next round.

Today am sharing a small tip on How To Get Even and Straight Edges Every Time You Crochet. A neat and straight edge for every stitch line up - Treble Crochet, Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet and Single Crochet - can be achieved with the simple Straight Edge Turning Chain method.

8 Ply Yarn

4mm Crochet Hook

Treble Crochet Straight Edge Turning Chain :-

Chain 3.

Insert the hook into the 2nd chain from the hook ,

Yarn over and Pull up a loop - 2 loops on the Hook

Insert the hook into the next stitch.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. - 3 loops on the hook.

Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 4 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops - 3 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. - 2 loops on the hook.

Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

This will make one Treble Crochet.

Continue with Treble Crochets in the remaining stitches .

Double Crochet Straight Edge Turning Chain :-

Chain 2.

Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.

Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.

Again, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You will have 2 loops on the hook.

Lastly, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

This will make one Double Crochet.

Continue with Double Crochets in the remaining stitches .

Half Double Crochet Straight Edge Turning Chain :-

Chain 2.

Insert the hook into the 1st chain from the bottom.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You should have 2 loops on the hook.

Turn your project and insert the hook into the first stitch.

Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on the hook.

Lastly, yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops.

This will make one Half Double Crochet.

Continue with Half Crochets in the remaining stitches .

Single Crochet Straight Edge Turning Chain :-

Chain 1.

Turn your work from Back to Front i.e. From Left to Right.

1 Single Crochet in the 1st stitch.

Continue with Single Crochets in the remaining stitches .
