How to Install a Braid

Today I will be explaining how to install a box braid. It is super simple and can be a very useful skill to have if you like box braids. This is the final product!

• braiding hair or any hair
• Rat tailed comb
• Hair gel (optional)

• you will want to make a box with your comb on the scalp of the person's hair you are braiding
• The part can be any size you would like

• 1st thing you need to do is take 3 equal pieces of braiding hair and lay two of the pieces together and the other piece can stay separate f
• Next loop piece 3 over piece 1&2

• this is the trickiest part! This also can vary between people, some people grip the hair differently and that is okay!
• The way I do it: take your thumb and middle finger and grip the centerpiece of hair (piece 3)
• This should look like a small 'knot'

• you will want to place the 'knot' of the braiding hair on top of the hair you are braiding
• Next, you will want to start braiding down all of the pieces.
• if you do not know how to braid, pay close attention to step 4!

• separating the pieces into three you will want to take piece 2 and place it over piece 3
• Next, you take piece 3 and place it over piece 1
• Then take piece 1 and put it behind piece three
• You will want to repeat these steps to make a braid!

• now you have a braid!
• Some people use hot water to seal the ends of the hair. They do this by dipping the completed braid into boiling water
