How to Install a New Bike Light
Bike lights constitute the most basic safety feature in a bike and every biker, especially night riders, must have them. You can also learn how to install a pair of these bike lights on your own. Bike installation is an easy procedure and with some essential guidelines, anyone can accomplish it.
So, you have been looking for an easy technique to install a new set of lights onto your bike.
Well, the following paragraphs will illustrate just that in easy steps. You can follow them and install your new bike lights in no time.
Choose an Ideal Location for Placing the Lights
Before we begin with installation, decide on the best location for lights on the bike.
As such, bike lights are available in various types but professional cyclist prefer Magicshine bike lights with convenient magnetic O-Ring system.
For safety sake, it’s advised to install the lights on both front and back end of a bike. This maximizes visibility and ensures adequate safety.
However, the location of your bike light unit will also depend on the light-unit model you have.
For the front end, a bike light should be installed near the center of bike’s handlebar. Similarly, the rear light-unit should be installed exactly below the rider’s seat.
Installation of Bike Light
Once the location is finalized, proceed with the installation of bike lights.
Begin by placing the bike light in the desired location, let’s say the handle bar. Wrap the bike and handle bar together using a strap.
Now mount the light unit with a bracket and if possible warp it close to the core body of the bike. This will ensure that the bike lights don’t jiggle with road bumps. Moreover, the strap should be aside from shifter or brake.
Securing the Looping Strap
After installation, the strap should be feed into the looping bracket. Tighten it for a securer grip so that it resists the impact of heavy bumps.
However, don’t over tighten it or the loop may break.
For clip tightening bike lights, clips must be snapped and shut to the desired location.
This step probably goes for every light unit and the tightening mechanism that controls it.
Installing the Batteries
If bike lights run on battery, the batteries should also be installed before concluding the setup.
Install the battery with the light and keep case near the bike light. For a closed battery case, remove the screws with a screwdriver and insert the cells in well-defined area to continue further.
Adjusting the Bike Light
Although, most modern bike lights are designed with adjustable features.
Once you are done with the adjustment of the lights in a desired position, snap the trail once again and see if the light is working properly. When done with all steps mentioned above, you are good to hit the road.
